How Credits Work in Qwilr

If you've started exploring Qwilr's document automation features, you might have come across the word "credits."

Here's what they are, how they work, and what you get on each plan.

The Short Version

Every time you create a page through document automation, the creation of that document is charged at your per-doc rate.

Your credit balance covers those charges.

How many documents you can create from a given credit balance depends on your per-doc-rate.

This rate depends on whether you've prepaid for a credit bundle and, if you have, which bundle that was. The larger the credit bundle, the lower your per-doc rate is.

At $2.50 per document, $500 in credit gets you 200 automated documents.

At $1.60 per document, that same spend covers 312.

We’ll go into more detail on this below.

What Actually Uses Credit?

Credit applies whenever a document is created using an automation, rather than someone opening the Qwilr editor and building it manually.

There are a few main ways to do that:

  • The Smart Proposal Engine: Qwilr's built-in tool for generating personalized proposals at scale, using conditional content logic and AI to dynamically adapt a template to your buyer. Cloning from pages created via the Smart Proposal Engine also draws from your credit balance. Exclusive to Scale customers.
  • API Integration: External systems sending requests to create pages automatically.
  • Zapier and Make.com: Workflow automations that trigger document creation when specific events occur.
  • MCP (Coming soon): Automated document creation triggered through Qwilr's MCP server.

One more thing worth knowing: credit is deducted the moment a document is created, not when you publish it or set it live.

Manual document creation and editing in Qwilr's editor never uses credit, and neither does viewing a document.

Automated document creation via API, Zapier, Make.com, and MCP is available on all plans.

The Smart Proposal Engine is exclusive to Scale plans. When released, creating pages via the MCP will be limited to Starter, Growth and Scale.

Free Credit by Plan

With each plan, you can get started for free, with a set number of free automated document creations:

Upgrading plans mid-year forfeits any remaining balance from your previous plan, but grants the full allocation for your new tier.

Prepay and save: lock in a lower rate

If you're creating a meaningful volume of documents, prepaying for a bundle locks in a lower per-doc rate.

Pay-as-you-go: $2.50 ($3.50 AUD) per document on every plan, Starter and up.

Prepaid packages lower your rate further the more you commit upfront:
